THE YOUNG DUBLINERS

Posted on 4/11/21

It’s time to bring live rock and roll back into people’s lives and the Young Dubliners are just the band to do it. After thirty years as one of the world’s leading Celtic Rock bands, the boys have begun work on their tenth studio album while simultaneously launching the 2021 limited summer and Fall tour. This includes their rescheduled TRIP TO IRELAND in November where they will bring 150 US fans with them. All trip details can be found at youngdubliners.com

They are also welcoming onboard new bass player Ethan Jones who had previously worked for the band in the early days as a tech and stage manager. When the Dubs were holding auditions for the job in November 2019, Ethan reached out and said he would like to try out.

Although they hadn’t seen him in many years it was as though they had never been apart. Ethan’s bass playing is superb but it was the ease with which he assimilated into the band that has really caused the most excitement and renewed commitment from everyone “It felt more like a family member coming home” says frontman Keith Roberts. Although Ethan only got to play a few shows before COVID shut them down, he is very excited to get back out there.

The new line up is Keith Roberts (vocals / guitar), Chas Waltz (Violin, keys, vocals), Justin Pecot (guitar, vocals), Dave Ingraham (drums) and Ethan Jones (bass guitar).

With a solid lineup and a new batch of songs to play live, The Young Dubliners are set to save 2021 and help revive live music. New tour dates are being added daily based on safely reopening venues. They vow to never put anyone at unnecessary risk but can’t wait to play for their tremendous fans all over the world.

The band has already begun work on the new album and announced its fundraiser to help pay for the recording. This will be the second time the band has looked to its fans to finance an album instead of a traditional record company. “The business has changed so much over our lifetime that it no longer makes sense for us to take money from a label and then owe it all back” says Roberts. “Making all our supporters co producers is a far more rewarding way to make a record and allows us to maintain control all the way”. The band will team up with long time producer, Irish born Tim Boland, and begin recording in the coming months. More details on that will be forthcoming.

The Young Dubliners have released nine albums to date. The set on the upcoming dates will draw from all their albums and include unreleased new material.

TEMPEST

Posted on 3/17/21

Since forming in 1988, Tempest has delivered a globally-renowned hybrid of high-energy Folk Rock fusing Irish reels, Scottish ballads, Norwegian influences and other world music elements. The last 30 plus years have seen the San Francisco Bay Area based act release seventeen critically acclaimed CDs and play more than 2,500 gigs. It's also enjoyed an evolving line-up that's enabled musicianship and creativity to evolve in delightful ways with each new member.

Hailing from Oslo, Norway, founding member and lead singer/electric mandolinist, Lief Sorbye, is recognized as a driving force in the modern folk-rock movement. He started Tempest after years of touring and recording on the folk circuit. Newcomer, San Francisco native fiddler Lee Corbie-Wells, comes to the band with a special passion for Celtic and Scandinavian music and Gaelic language traditions. A touring and performing child of a musical family, she plays fiery traditional fiddle tunes, and is also known to keep a bit of Blues and folk improvisation up her sleeve. And straight from Bologna, Italy, we welcome the big, rich bass playing talent of Mirco Melone. Mirco has a diverse background in rock, jazz and ethnic music, and holds an advanced degree from Italy's Classical Music Conservatory. The latest addition to the band, Nikolay Georgiev, studied modern rock guitar under Martin Goulding at the Guitar Institute of Technology in London, U.K. and classical guitar performance in his native Bulgaria. He also attended Musicians Institute in Hollywood, CA, while remaining active in a number of bands. Nikolay brings a fresh and global flavor to Tempest's brand of Rock-driven World Music! Cuban-born drummer Adolfo Lazo, an original Tempest member, thickens the band's sound with inventive rhythms, and rock-steady drumming.

Signed to Sony-distributed Magna Carta Records, Tempest's releases are acclaimed worldwide. Their latest studio CD, 'Thirty Little Turns' is a collection of inspired new original and traditional material -- with a cheeky surprise or two. During the extended, pandemic break from touring and performing in 2020 Tempest has remained busy, releasing two limited edition CDs; 'Live on the Air' the Radio Sessions 1992 - 2018, and 'Live From SoundTek Studios,' The Lockdown Sessions.

Tempest is regularly featured at prestigious festivals such as The Philadelphia Folk Festival, and has also appeared at Denmark's Skagen Festival, Britain's Cropredy Festival and The Winnipeg Folk Festival in Canada. The band is a mainstay at countless American Celtic festivals, as well

Wicked Tinkers

Posted on 3/17/21

Prepare yourself for a wild ride with WICKED TINKERS! Pioneers of the growing Tribal Celtic movement, the Tinkers have been playing haunting, heart-pounding bagpipes and irresistible tribal drums as a professional touring band since 1995. With the addition, several years back, of the mesmerizing drone of the Australian didgeridoo and Bronze Age Irish horn, the magic was complete. Sit back and be transported to an earlier time in Scotland and Ireland, when battle cries filled the air and strange, unheard-of creatures roamed the night. Or better yet, get on your feet and let your body move to ancient rhythms and forgotten sounds.

Don't think this is dry, dusty music for museum shelves – WICKED TINKERS merge the best of modern, almost rock-and-roll energy with the hypnotic, insistent grooves of their Gaelic ancestors. Rare is the bystander who comes away without feeling a surprising, sometimes bewildering connection to long-forgotten primal emotions ... half-memories of ages past and experiences nameless yet somehow familiar. WICKED TINKERS creates music to set your jaw, put a fire in your belly, a glint in your eye and a dance in your feet.

Golden Bough

Golden Bough marked their 40 year anniversary in 2020. Paul Espinoza, Margie Butler and Kathy Sierra blend their voices in pristine harmony, while backing themselves on an array of rare and more common acoustic instruments, including: Celtic harp, penny-whistle, violin, octave-mandolin, mandolin, accordion, guitar, viola, harmonica, recorder and bodhran.

Since their inception, Golden Bough has become a popular and in demand group on both sides of the Atlantic, gaining critical acclaim and enthusiastic support from folk fans wherever they perform. In the recording studio, as well as on stage, Golden Bough captures the essence and joy of traditional folk music, and captivates listeners with the uniqueness of their original compositions.

Golden Bough has spent over 3 decades researching and performing not only the better known music of Ireland & Scotland, but also the music of the lesser known Celtic lands of Wales, Cornwall, The Isle of Man, French Brittany and Galicia (in Spain).  Although their sound is rooted in the music of these Celtic nations, they have expanded upon these ethnic styles to create a sound that is unique in traditional music. This music has a wide and diverse variety of emotions and rhythms; from haunting ballads, mythological tales and beautiful airs, to lively sing-along and toe-tapping jigs and reels.
